Who We Are
Who We Are
Our Korean-English Conversation Table was founded in 2016 for the purpose of connecting Americans who were hungry to learn the Korean language but did not have any native Korean speaking friends. Learning a language is always best with a living, breathing person rather than a textbook!
Since then we've grown as a community, and have expanded what we offer to our members. When you decide to join us, you too will gain access to various events and, most importantly, to a group of like-minded individuals who are just as passionate as you are.
우리 한-영 언어교환 모임은 2016년에 시작되었습니다. 한국어를 배우고 싶지만 주변에 한국어 원어민 친구가 없는 미국인들을 연결하기 위해 만들어졌습니다. 언어는 교과서보다 살아 있는 사람과 함께 배울 때 가장 효과적이니까요!
그 이후로 우리는 하나의 커뮤니티로 성장하며 회원들에게 제공하는 활동의 범위도 넓어졌습니다. 여러분이 우리와 함께 하신다면, 여러분 역시 다양한 행사와 그리고 무엇보다 중요한 것이 여러분만큼 이나 열정적인 회원들과 만날 수 있다는 것입니다.

명확한 가치를 갖는 것은 모든 언어 교환 커뮤니티에 있어서 매우 중요합니다. 이러한 가치는 건강하고, 존중하며, 활기찬 분위기를 조성하는 기반이 되기 때문입니다. 가치는 배경이나 언어 수준에 관계없이 모든 회원이 환영받고, 성장할 수 있는 힘을 느낄 수 있도록 도와줍니다.
Community
Inclusivity ensures everyone--regardless of level or background--is respected and heard. A strong community builds connection, deepens cultural understanding, and makes language learning a shared journey.
포용성은 수준이나 배경에 관계없이 모든 사람이 존중받고 목소리를 낼 수 있도록 합니다. 강한 공동체는 사람들 사이의 연결을 만들고, 문화적 이해를 깊게 하며, 언어 학습을 함께하는 여정으로 만듭니다.
Fluency
While fluency means something different for everyone, the shared goal of improving communication brings us together. Each conversation becomes a step toward greater confidence and connection.
유창함의 의미는 사람마다 다를 수 있지만, 소통 능력을 향상시키려는 공통된 목표가 우리를 하나로 모아줍니다. 각 대화는 더 큰 자신감과 연결로 나아가는 한 걸음이 됩니다.
Culture
We understand each other more deeply through culture--and curiosity helps us connect, ask thoughtful questions, and learn together. It’s not just about grammar; it’s about building real bridges through conversation.
우리는 문화를 통해 서로를 더 깊이 이해하게 됩니다. 그리고 호기심은 우리를 연결하고, 깊이 있는 질문을 하게 하며, 함께 배우도록 도와줍니다. 이것은 단지 문법에 관한 것이 아니라, 대화를 통해 진정한 다리를 놓는 일입니다.
Safety
When we feel safe to speak and make mistakes, we learn more and connect more deeply. Safety also means respecting each other’s boundaries while building trust through shared language practice.
우리가 말하고 실수할 수 있는 안전함을 느낄 때, 더 많이 배우고 더 깊이 연결될 수 있습니다. 안전함이란 함께 언어를 연습하면서 신뢰를 쌓아가는 동시에 서로의 경계를 존중하는 것도 포함됩니다.
